Think Dirty, Shop Clean

Hello Lovely,

Do you ever feel overwhelmed when choosing beauty products? Over the years I have spent hours staring at beauty supply shelves, lured by labels that claim the product is "organic" or "natural". The problem is, we are being tricked everyday by companies that feed consumers false claims of health when, in fact, they are full of harmful chemicals that, over time could be adversely affecting our overall health.

How can we decipher between dirty and clean products in a market that is skilled at marketing?  Check out the video:)

My clean shampoo, conditioner & body wash. All locally made, scent free & pure. I like to add a drop of essential oil at each use.

Next time I will share my go to face care line. Happy scanning!

It's Faux Beautiful - A Lash Tutorial

Let’s talk false eyelashes. I’m all about keeping things real, but there are occasions that call for a little extra glamour; They are a must for gala's, holidays, family photos, weddings, date nights...okay, who am I kidding, I think anytime is a good time for false eyelashes. They can take any look to the next level. The key is to choose the right style to fit the occasion. I prefer a natural look that enhances, not dominates. Here is a video tutorial to apply false eye lashes. Hope you like!

Recap of the video:

Step 1.

Purchase lashes and glue from any beauty or drug store. I’m not tied to any brand of lashes, but my go-to is Ardell. They are inexpensive and in every drugstore; unlike a high quality brand of lashes that can be used over and over, I find Ardell only last one or two applications.

Duo Adhesive is my favourite glue as it holds up throughout the day day and doesn't irritate my eyes.

Step 2.

Check the size of the lashes with your natural lash line. Trim if necessary. Bend the lashes back and forth a few times.

Step 3.

Apply your eye shadow, but wait on eyeliner until after your false eye lashes are in place.

Step 4.

Apply a thin even line of glue along the base of the false lashes. Wait 30 seconds for the glue to set. I continue to gently bend the lashes as I wait.

Step 5.

Look down and attach the lashes as close to your natural lash line as possible. Press gently. I like to use the end of my tweezers to ensure it is sealed. Wait a minute or so to ensure the glue has dried.

Step 6.

Now is the time to apply your liner. I use a damp slanted brush with eye shadow.

Step 7.

Finish off with a coat of Mascara to seal your natural and false lashes together

Get ready to wow!

Hair Got Class

The Hair Class. Ahhhh... Brilliant. Thank you to the ladies that bring us this, in my opinion, necessary hair tutorial. If you haven't attended one, you must! The Hair Class gets a definite thumbs up and my vote as something every busy Mama needs...especially for me and my mop of hair. I have pretty thick and frizzy hair if it's left unstyled (SO lovely) and basically have a total of two go-to styles for all occasions - from running the kids to school to evening galas - it's flat ironed straight or my (sad) attempt at beach waves.

The ladies from The Hair Class, Bethany and Natalie, are masters in their field who happen to wield absolutely perfectly coiffed hair themselves. They're stylish and sweet and the styles they teach work for almost every hair type and length.

I am now equipped with four new styles: beach waves, Kardashian style curls with back comb volume, a half up style and a polished top knot! Phew! Look out world! AND, I actually remember their simple tips and tricks to achieve these polished looks - unlike my usual trips to the salon where I leave looking and feeling fabulous but unable to remember how to do it myself. Oh, and also scored a professional curling iron (included in the price of admission) and the prize for best top knot - ha!

The Hair Class offers scheduled classes at various locations, including coffee shops and trendy apparel boutiques as well as private functions. We arranged for a private Essentials Class with close girlfriends, delicious treats and beverages all to be shared in a beautiful home. This is the most perfect girls night out - so grab your girls and register for their next one here!

Scrub Away Winter Blues

It is the time of year when I am ready for winter to end. Can I hear an "Amen"? I dream of warmer days when the windows can stay open and fresh air can fill our home.. But for now, my furnace will continue to run...and my skin will continue to dry out.

I was in serious need of exfoliation - my skin was dry and dull. I wanted the glow of a body scrub but didn't want to spend the money on a high-priced spa product. So, with the help of my little beauties, we experimented and came up with a scrub that has illuminated my dry skin, leaving it smooth and soft. And now, I would like to share it with you. Enjoy!

1 Cup Brown Sugar

1/2 Cup Coconut Oil

1 Tbsp Honey

1 Tbsp Vitamin E Oil

5 drops of essential oil (I used lavender by doTERRA. Next time I'm going to try a fresh citrus scent)

Stir all the ingredients together in a bowl until well blended and store in an airtight container. It's that simple!
